“Janet Sgro’s need for creative expression runs strong. The School of the Art Institute of Chicago graduate fuels her creation of visual beauty with an endless supply of inspirations. Using paint and pastel, she surfaces her inner most thoughts, feelings and emotions, producing breathtaking pieces of art. “My ideas are rooted in spirituality that surface through shape and color. In my current body of work, flowers have layers to them that are intriguing and speak of the protected core at their center. When blooming, flowers choose unfold their petals, at their own pace, and possibly reveal a gift that has always been there, the beauty within. This beauty is in each one of us, in all living things, and is a gift we have been given. To reveal it is the decision.” She continues to create pieces about healing and enlightenment.
Her artwork has been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions, including The Sullivan Galleries of Chicago, The Pharmacy, Illinois Department of Transportation’s Fine Art Gallery and Chicago’s Randolph Street Gallery. In addition, her artwork has been displayed in a variety of venues, including St. Johns Prairie Heart Institute’s Center For Living, Emerging Energy Acupuncture and many distinguished private art collections nationwide. She is a member of The Pharmacy Artist’s Group, Springfield Art Association and Chicago Artist’s Coalition.”
